Oceanid Collection

Here it is at last, the full Oceanid Collection Look Book.
But first...
A big thank you to Tegan and Kelsey for being my two models, and to Leah for doing the hair, make up, and being the photography assistant.

I'm so proud of this collection and am thrilled to finally be sharing it with all of you.
This blog has tied in strongly with themes and names in this collection, you need only check out some of my mermaid, nymph, or collection development posts to see how.

Launching at the Brisbane Finders Keepers Market on the 3rd and 4th of November, and online at Etsy and MadeIt the following week.

Consolidation

I've decided to begin discussing my Etsy store, Hearsay on this blog. I think it's still relevant because my jewellery and accessories are, in there own way, visions of whimsy.

For those of you who are avid readers of this blog and don't just skim through the pretty pictures (no judging, I do it too) you may remember roughly a year ago I had this big back and forth about whether to include my Hearsay stuff on this blog or whether to create a new one. Well this is the last back (or forth depending on how you look at it) and I'm sticking to it... hopefully.

So, yes, this does mean a few changes, good changes, marvelous changes!

By Howard Pyle, 1911.
The most obvious change will be posts about the development of my label.

I've currently got a new accessories collection in the works. Originially I was thinking nymphs and oceanids would be the inspiration for the range but it soon switched to mermaids and pirates much like those in the Howard Pyle painting above. I love Howard Pyle's pirate and mermaid paintings, especially his use of colour. I have his The Mermaid over in this post.

The Mermaids Mirror Necklace
One of the necklaces under construction was inspired by the notion that Mermaids are frequently seen preening and looking at themselves in mirrors. Norman Lindsay's mermaid etching found in one of my mermaid posts played a big part in the conceptualization of this necklace.

Pinterest and necklace sketch in background
I've been keeping a pinterest board of all the images that fit the theme and vibe of this collection and have started to recognise a recurring colour palette of deep green blues and dusty faded reds.

Now available in red!

*This collection is now complete and you cam find many of the items in store on Etsy.

Mermaids

In honour of my most viewed blog post, 'Pirates of the Caribbean and Those Mermaid Vampire Things' I am doing another mermaid themed post just few pics, nothing specific, here goes.

Lttle Mermaid by Norman Lindsay.

Mermaid by Franz Von Stuck.

Mermaid's at Play by Arnold Bocklin.

The Mermaid by Charles Haslewood Shannon.

A race with Mermaids and Tritons by Collier Twentyman Smithers.

Catching a Mermaid by James Clarke Hook.

Mermaids Frolicking in the Sea by Charles Edouard Boutibonne, 1883.

A Mermaid by John William Waterhouse, 1901.

The Mermaid by Howard Pyle, 1919.
P.S. the date is questionable on this one, I got it from Wikimedia which also puts Pyle's death at 1911, sooo... yeah.

Going through my post list I've just realised a terrible glitch to the system, Saturday's Wild Things was not my 100th post, I had a few double up drafts which were being counted in my total and this post is only my 99th making my next post my 100th. Tragic though this may be I believe with the support of our friends and family we can make it through.
I'll see you next time for my actual 100th post.
