Calling All Artists!

While this blog has been dormant for some time now I thought, what few remain connected to it, may find what I have to say of interest.

I have recently been lucky enough to become the art editor of the new lit mag The Drowning Gull. It's set to be pretty amazing and the first issue just recently went live so have a gander.

The second issue is open for submissions now. It’s a nonfiction and art issue with a nature theme so if that’s what you’re into, or you know someone who is, take a look at the submissions page and send us something. You can find some insights on the kind of art I’m looking for on the TDG blog. The same goes for our fiction and poetry editors.

I for one, can’t wait to immerse myself in art once again, I've missed this blog. But now I have another. So if you're keen on submitting to TDG or want to keep in the loop on my work as editor (among other things) you can find me at Read Write Think Repeat. Stop by, have a drink. We can talk about highbrow concepts in art and literature or even better, Masterchef and The Bachelor.

Tim Walker in British Vogue

I bought April's British Vogue the other day and I did it for the spreads (and I'm not talking jam and peanut butter) one in particular appealed to my kooky sensibilities, photographer Tim Walker did an awesome job.

What's up with that umbrella, how is it even staying up there, and why? (Those are the big questions).

I like the dollishness of this one, though it has nothing on the next one.

Barbie gone wrong. It's amazing how unreal and, yes, all made out of plastic she looks behind that bubble.

Patron Goddess of Clowns. Love it. This one was actually a two pager but my scanner wasn't big enough. The other page had a big parrot on it, which you can see in another shot further down.

This ones prettier than the others with the ruffly top and pink smoke, that combined with the surrealist setting is what makes it for me.

 Another doll.

And here's that parrot, what a beauty.

This isn't the entire spread but it's my faves, hope you like them too.

To keep up to date with the words and pictures I'm sharing now head on over to my new website, www.sarahfallon.net.  I'm talking readingwriting and all kinds of daydreamy things.
